[XTension] when you give a mouse a cookie moment...

It all started with this new house we bought two years ago. This place is beautiful. It was a dream home custom built 12 years ago by/for the couple we purchased it from. They did almost everything right when they designed and had the house built. I am totally unworthy to be the current steward. That being said….

My husband is very light-sensitive and likes to have the bedroom as dark as possible to block morning light. Fortunately our bedroom windows face north so we have softer light in the morning, but light is light. I love light and really don’t care much for window coverings that block light so I have been rather slow about getting around to putting up light blocking window treatments. Also, I do not have and artistic or designer cell in my entire being. So anyway, I did manage to pick up some blackout drapes to cover two of the windows but there is also a higher arched window that I have not yet figured out the best way to cover. I finally have decided that maybe a roman shade would work nicely in that space. Roman shades are nice because they’re actually quite easy to DIY. But since the bottom of the window is way above my reach I need to have a way to lift and lower the shade. So of course I have been looking into how to motorize the blind.

There are a few motors available on the market. So well, if I motorize the shade/blind then I want to install something that I can ultimately control with XTension because well, why not?
What brand motors do any of you fine people have experience with that is compatible with XTension? I do not have Alexa or that google thing or even a home pod. I just don’t like to invite spies into my home.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions,
Dee Dee livin the life. :)
