OT: whole home wifi mesh recommendations

Thank you, Chuck. In addition to the router from my ISP I have my Airport Extreme running in the center of the house. I do have a couple of time capsules upstairs for time machine backups and to help make printers more easily accesible.

My house was only built in 2010 and is a frame home — 2 story with an open loft plus master bedroom upstairs. I don’t see any indication that it is wired with ethernet.

With the input thus far from you, Andy, and Tom, I am going back to the drawing board to educate myself about: extenders vs access points vs mesh networks.
My most immediate issue is the dead spots and poor signal in the back bedrooms on the main level.

BTW my brother told me that usually when those old flat time capsules fail it is because of the internal power supply. Thus a few years ago when I picked up a couple off ebay I snagged a power supply also just to have one on hand.

Thank you again for your advice,
Dee Dee

I also have one in the guest treehouse and those 3 units cover my hole house. They can be had for really cheap on Craigslist (30-40 dollar) and the bonus is that they can be used as backup for all my devices. We just select the network we are closest to.
