There should always be an XTension Support folder in your Documents folder. Some various support and other data files are kept there that are needed by various plugins and such.

if you are running XTension just “naked” in the applications folder then the database will also be inside that folder.

If you are running XTension anywhere else then it will try to put the database and all the other related folders that it needs inside the folder alongside the app as it has done since time immemorial. This is not how Apple wants you to do things. They want you to just put the app in the App folder and I should put the database and such into the Application Support folder rather than the Documents folder, but it’s harder to get to it there if you need to so for the moment I’m keeping them in the Documents folder if not inside the same folder as the app.

It is entirely possible that things have been made more complicated by the OS versions that are required for the M1 macs, though apart from that it shouldn’t be related to anything M1 specific, it’s definitely going to be an OS change if things are going goofy. There are several new security checks for things like using relative paths and so forth and something might have gotten messed up that I haven’t noticed in testing yet. I will investigate further.

Until then everybody just make sure you have a database file EITHER in the folder along side XTension, or in the Documents/XTension Support folder. But not both.
