Ezlo same as Vera?

My Vera seemed to have bitten the dust last night. It was non responsive and power off/on a couple of times made no difference. As I went online to look for a replacement, I came to find that Vera has been purchased by Ezlo and a whole line of products has replaced the Vera hubs. According to the website, the old Vera and new Ezlo controllers are entirely different. From the website - "Because the two platform structures are entirely different, there is no seamless way to transition your existing setup from a Vera controller to an Ezlo one.”

I guess I did not give the Vera enough time, because as I was looking for a replacement, the old Vera came back to life and is now working normally. While I escaped a possible bad situation with the my family and a at least a few hours setting up a new controller device, I am wondering what is the best course of action if I did need to replace the Vera I am currently using? Are the new Ezlo products a direct replacement? Anyone used these new controllers? Or is the Hubitat the new route for z-wave?
