Sorry I missed this discussion the first time though. I use these
motorized curtain rods
<https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Automatic-Curtain-System-Curtains/dp/B07ZVGXSWD>,
and these blinds chain motor drives
<https://www.amazon.com/WiFi-Smart-Automatic-Curtain-Motor/dp/B099RQLHPS>.
They can be purchased for significantly less money from the Chinese
marketplace (Examples here
<https://www.zemismart.com/zemismart-smart-curtain-alexa-google-home-electric-stage-curtain-motorized-tuya-wifi-curtain-motor-with-track-p0160.html>
and here
<https://www.banggood.com/WIFI-Smart-Window-Blinds-Chain-Motor-Controller-APP-Control-RC-Automation-Kit-p-1706315.html?cur_warehouse=CN>
.)
Both these devices can be controlled with their own IOS (or android) apps,
and both can be integrated with Alexa. They both have RF based remotes, so
I can control them with Xtension via the bond RF bridge.
I've also gone one step further and have flashed them with a home
automation based firmware called Tasmota and can now control them with
MQTT. This flashing used to be pretty simple with custom software on a
Raspberry Pi, but due to changes in the native software, flashing now not
for the faint of heart as it requires soldering to contacts on the device's
controller board.
I'm very much looking forward to fleshing out the MQTT support in
Xtenison. I currently have ~30 different devices running Tasmota and hand
off control through PHP and Python scripts in the MacOS.
