ceiling fan and light control?

Nope, nothing but the vera.

There are some ZWave fan controllers but they tend to be expensive and I have no experience with them.

I did just build some ZWave medium/high fan controllers myself though :) I used a 2 relay ZWave inline module with one of the outputs going right to the fan and one of them going through a 10k 250 volt mylar capacitor. That is the same way that the individual stepped fan speed controllers work, I just automated it with a ZWave module for around $30 bucks. for medium I turn on the relay that has the capacitor in line, for high I turn on the direct one. It’s been working wonderfully for the last couple of months on the porch. I’ve done this on 4 fans so far. 

It’s not hard to imagine, but it was a little tricky in the implementation to make sure that it was safely connected and had no wires exposed. Also added a 1 megohm resister across the capacitor so that it would discharge slowly after the power went out. 

I was thinking of making a little board for it if anyone is interested. You only get 2 speeds, but really how many do you need? ;)
