Barix address DHCP weirdness?

I’m not that familiar with DHCP . . . but I’ve always just set the static IP address on my Barix devices (through the Barix device web interface)
1. wire up the Barix
2. Find out where DHCP has put it using terminal:
"arp -a” will return a list of all devices with both the IP and MAC addresses
3. Use Safari to go to your Barix device using the IP address
4. go to the Configuration page on the Barix (ulconfig.html)
5. set a static IP address outside the DHCP range that your router is using
6. click on “OK”
7. reboot the Barix (uifreboot.html)
