I think I remember reading that James did this sometime ago, but my search on the list couldn't find any confirmation. I have developer friends that suggest this new OS might help my XTension woos. That just doesn't seem reasonable to me.
The currently shipping version of XTension, and at least one more major release upcoming remains a 32 bit app linked against the carbon library. I've made good strides towards going fully cocoa internally but it wont matter for mavericks. While the OS requires a 64 bit capable machine, the kernel can not be run in 32 bit mode, it will still happily run 32 bit apps as per apple's documentation.
The only problem that I can immediately see with that is that non-pseudo serial USB device support like the CM15 and the smarthome interfaces may or may not work under the new kernel in 64 bit more. THey have always worked for me in 64 bit mode, but others have had problems and i dont know why. So if you have one of those 2 interfaces then you may be in for an upgrade. Everything else should just work.
Thanks,
James
