Problem with interfaces

Henk,

At least you get alien addresses. I don’t even get those. I can change batteries in an X10 Security sensor and…..nothing. I never shows up as an alien address and it doesn’t activate the old address. But the red light blinks showing that it is working. I press the address button that changes the address and still nothing.

It gets even worse.

I have the SDR which sees some of the addresses sometimes, and I put in the RFX units as a secondary interface so that if the SDR misses it and the RFX sees it then it should update the unit. But it doesn’t. So having multiple interfaces is a waste of money.

In the decades I have been doing this I have never had so many problems. I am using the Xtension kits from James for my temperature sensors and that works pretty well. I have gone over to Z-wave sensors but all the sensors I have tried out, none of them have the versatility of the old X10 Hawkeye where the timeout can be easily adjusted and it updates its status every 10 seconds so the time delta can be used to turn off lights in case they don’t shut off like they we supposed to.

It is really frustrating…

Luckily I had an old folder on my disk, which meant I had to reconfigure a lot of things that I had not touched in year. The RFX and the W800 interface were the main once. I had to figure out which one tho use by trying each one. The RFX temps filled up the log in red and the units showed low battery. To make a long story shorter, each time I tried a different verrsion it md new units, but did nothing to the original unit.

As I looked into this I was getting similar problems with other unit. I would have a unit B11 in my data base but the SDR did not update that unit but would create a new unit with the same address.
