Brian,

Sorry for the delay noticing the question.

The pin is only used when you want to link new devices. It is not the part of the communications that recognizes things that should already be paired. It changing or not has no reasonable way to have any effect on the problem you’re having. it’s not even used by the protocol anywhere unless you’re re-pairing with homekit.
