Weeder WTDIN cards

Dear XTensioneers and James,

I’ve had a heckuva year trying to keep my system up and running and finally realized that the age old adage I grew up with saying that if a piece of electronics worked for 30 days it would work for 30 years is a bunch of hooey today.

I keep getting failed DIO points, and a phone conversation with Terry Weeder, he thinks he knows what the problem is. Apparently the DIO cards do not have protection against lightning built into them like the DIN cards. Terry shared that a lightning strike a mile away could easily knock out a point on a DIO card and that’s what I think is going on… that and 12 years of age of use.

I am in the process of converting over all of my DIO cards to the DIN cards and have run into a peculiar problem.

While the DIO cards have 14 points on them, the DIN cards have only eight and I discovered that trying to get two PIR‘s to work on B1 and B2 points, they were only capable of being controlled by pins B7 and B8 I discovered by accident.

After sharing this with Terry, he was extremely skeptical, and wonders whether James numbering of the points are in reverse which I assured him couldn’t happen, but the purpose of this email is to confirm with you, James, that you didn’t your number the cards backwards and your software, with B1 at the top of the card and B8 at the bottom when it should be reversed. I’m sure that’s not the case, but I’d like to hear that from the horse’s mouth.

Perhaps there’s other users amongst us who have had similar experiences trying to make the DIN card work and I would sure love to hear from you if that’s the case.

Best wishes,

George
