Just under $10 soup to nuts, and that included my having to replace some
rotted sheathing under the meter.

The gas line was the expensive part, so if you can install the generator
near the gas, it's probably cheaper to do that and run the electric wire
to the panel, then to trench a gas line all the way to the electric
panel.  I think the plumber's portion of the bill was over $2,000.

My lead time was "order in January, install in September".

The WiFi came later due to chip shortage.  The most useful aspect of
that has been the history of exercises and the few times it kicked in.
Interfacing the WiFi info with Xtension doesn't seem useful to me, the
dry contact switch seems sufficient.

Note that with the transfer switch in place, it's easy to cut off all
power to the previous "main" panel to install stuff in there safely.

The biggest part of the electricians job is separating all the grounds
from neutrals in the previous "main" panel, because now the transfer
switch is the main panel where ground and neutral are tied together, so
they have to be separated in the old panel.  You see that in my photos,
the new grounding bar across the top of the "main" panel.
