Xtension questions

Hello Scott,

Apologies for missing the notification, your serial number for XTdb is winging its way across the intertubes even as I type this.

For location, I don’t know how far it is off if you enter your own? The calculation does not take into account things like altitude and so you may need to add manual offsets in the control panel to get it just right for what you want. While the sunset and sunrise script will run at the specifically calculated time (plus or minus the offset) you can create events based on the sunrise or sunset time and add custom amounts of offsets. I have inside lights that come on an hour or so before sunset and outside lights that come on after sunset via that mechanism.

As far as it not being able to use your system location, are there any errors in the log? Check the System Preferences under the Security & Privacy control panel and make sure that XTension is listed there and has it’s checkbox checked to be allowed for Location Services. Otherwise the system will refuse, but it doesn’t always send a reasonable error, it can just return zero’s which can lead to hilarious results ;) The checkbox for permissions is reset to off with every update of the software so if you’re using that you will almost certainly have to re-check it with every update. Even if it is checked, the OS is buggy about such things so uncheck it, and re-check it to make sure it’s really enabled. There is STILL no way to verify that you have permissions for a specific thing. I just have to rely on the OS to popup a please grant permissions dialog which it will only ever do once.

Let me know if that helps at all or if there remain issues with it!
  James
