WizNet advice

I just  wrote my last email on the fly about replacing the WizNet Boards when it occurred to me I hadn’t done my homework.

James has the WizNet Configurator which configures these cards.

I don’t know and I doubt that Configurator will work with any other products except WizNet, and possibly, further ONlY with certain WizNet cards.

James, please interject your knowledge  and recommendations here.

I just did a quick scan on Amazon and there must be three or 400 hundred different brands of serial to ethernet conversion products ranging from $6.88 to over $100. However, no WizNet cards. I will still need the same type of connections as  before which are a DB9 to RJ45, But it’s also true I need to configure them and this must be done somehow with these other brands.

Surely somebody’s had tons of experience with something more current than what I’m using and I hope you have a chance to read this and reply.
