Thanks Tom - that sounds like the problem. Started happening with the M1 universal build I think, so fairly recent. Will do some DB searching this evening an see if I can fix it.
Thanks again,
Brendan.

There have been a couple of changes to where the DB is stored by default and if you are running in a slightly different configuration, then when the App starts up it won’t find the DB and will create an empty DB and start you fresh as you are seeing. Since the license is stored in the DB, it assumes you don’t have a license since it created a new, empty DB.

Previously this would have resulted in an error at startup and the creation of a new empty database and you would have had to move your database from that hidden folder manually. If for some reason old info has been left behind in the Application Support folder it will only consider it valid if it has been used recently and will ignore really old files that might still be there so it won’t suddenly wakeup and try to convert something that it has always ignored before because the conversion was not working properly.

But, I believe that if the DB is in the folder where the XTension App lives, it should find it as well. I think that is how I am running things. Although, my Xtension App is in a folder called Xtension in the main Applications folder.

Since I run XTension from a Documents/my_xtension folder I then rename the version of XTension that I was running to append the version, copy the new version from the applications folder into the working folder and try to start it. It does not find the license, and complains that I have more than 5 units. I quit that and open the previous version and everything is back to normal.
