Problems with 3 Major XTension Systems

Chuck,

Many thanks for your response regarding your successful experience with running two W800s on a M1 running 12.3.1.

Dave Fleck has been helping me, and we both agree in principal that for sure the XTB-232 couldn’t or shouldn’t be affected by Python anything as X10’s technology predates Python by decades.

Dave wrote If Apple had you update to OS 12.3 then Python 2.7 is a definite possible problem.

My W800 is working fine on my M1 (using OS 12.2 or 12.3 with a Python 2.7 workaround).

My XTB232 is also working fine.

Dave

But just to double check, I decided to write Jeff Volp again for his Python thoughts since he manufactures the XTB-232.

I wrote him this last and he responded below this morning, which helps explain why some are having problems with W800, WeatherCat and according you Jeff, even his assortment of X10 equiipment should NOT be ruled out simply because it doesn’t use Python. Up until today, he was convinced that I had to have added some major new piece of equipment providing immense electrical noise. But since all these issues haven’t killed my many Weeder boards of different kinds, Jeff’s admission that he COULD understand how a Python upgrade from 2.7.18 to 3.14 could indeed exacerbate the type of problems I’m experiencing. The mere fact that three major sub systems in my XTension system all go South as soon as I had it installed the M1 which came with 12.3.1.

Can anyone think of a good reason NOT to try Dave’s workaround which mainly involves overwriting Python 3.13 reverting back to Phantom 2.7.18?

Thanks again for sharing your personal experience on this subject.

Best wishes,

George

Hi George,

I don't know anything about Python and never used a Mac. But there is a handshaking protocol defined by the CM11A document that must be adhered to from the computer side. I assume Python is involved in that.

Jeff

So my point is for as many people who are not having the discussed problem, we are stunned that even the author of XTB-232 says there is Phy
