I am questioning the use of that path. The right way to do things is to install the kext into /Library/Extensions, then on reboot the system copies it into /System/Library/Extensions. If you do it in Big Sur, you have a very good chance of breaking the volume seal and rendering the system unbeatable. For that reason, I don’t believe you can do the copy yourself.

But, in both Catalina and Big Sur (and Mojave as well, I believe), you place the kext in /Library/Extensions and let the system move it to where it needs it.
The rules in Big Sur are now very restrictive. Apple doesn’t want anyone but them playing in the kernel.
