I have SecuritySpy also. Four Cameras currently but, more are about to be installed.
I use AmCrest cameras with SecuritySpy and have been in contact with their programmers over some oddities. I’ve gotten false positives mostly. I’ve chosen not to detect cars as our street is practically a highway of traffic, (thanks to the drugs dealers in the apartments behind the subdivision.) No matter what, SecuritySpy still will detect some cars as people. Amcrest also has a detection algorithm which I chose to turn off, not to get doubles on detection. The detection has gotten pretty darn good though. I’ve found that certain times of the day provide better contrast between the objects behind people that it’s detecting. My cameras has pretty good IR illumination but, it’s fairly focused on the center of the cameras. I plan to add an independent array of IR LEDS near the apex of the house that will provide more light at night.
Steve, I had problems with the Interface in XTension for SecuritySpy so I just wrote an AppleScript within SecuritySpy to target XTension. It works well. I’m wondering is you possibly might have tried the same thing and the “Action” is still left in SecuritySpy?

This could be a controllable software or hardware feature or setting of the Security Spy Interface. Or, perhaps it's on by their default, and you need to change it or the lines may not stop.

I've had Pelcos, IC Realtime and Speco, and not a one of them could consistntly accurately do the job. Heavy rain, snow, hail, lightning or the neighbor's cat can fool. I learned that the best tech for doing that today is having separate special outdoor MW/PIRs, usually one for each camera.

>> A month ago I installed the Security Spy interface and showed it where Security Spy was. It dutifully created the units to correspond to motion alerts. After a while I decided to “back burner” my efforts to integrate motion alerts into XTension. I turned off the interface to eliminate log entries regarding motion. The log entries kept coming. After a week of these mysterious log entries I decided to delete everything pertaining to Security Spy until I had more time to work on the project, I deleted all the units and the interface.
