Moving to New Mac Mini

Actually, as long as the folder containing XTension and XTdb are moved as well, it yes you can. It just works when moved together since the database is stored in the folder with the program.

I did exactly this over the weekend. Bought a late 2011 Mac mini. Setup the OS, put it on the network and copied the XTension folder over after shutting down XTension (the old Mac had Xtension and XTdb in the same folder in the Applications folder). Everything came right up on the “new” Mini, as is. The 2 exceptions were that XTdb graphs were missing and my camera setups for Video Pitcher were missing.

The keys are stored in the database as far as I know, so as long as you have the databases, you should be good to go.

I guess there are situations where the databases may be in a separate folder. I presume that if you put them back in the same place on the new Mac, you will be good.

The actual device name of some of my serial devices changed (using the mac-usb-serial.com drivers), and I still need to re-pair the Amazon Echo as an audio device, but I didn't need to re-install anything that way. Otherwise I would have needed to hunt down a bunch of installers, including mac-usb-serial and keyspan, and probably some things I've forgotten about.
