Forgetful Kasa Bulbs

I have a  Kasa/TPLink color bulb that forgets it can do color.  The popup
no longer shows color controls, and color commands are rejected.

Can’t set "CouchLamp" to RGB color "ff0000". Access not allowed.

The only way I've found to remind the bulb it can do color is to delete it
from Xtension and rediscover.  Is there a way to refresh this unit without
deleting it?
