I know all too well the pressures on the medical system. The system has tried to activate me cause I still have my medical license and have been a deputy medical examiner in the past so I can help out in the morgue. So far I have declined all requests as I just can’t keep up anymore at my age. On top of that I am getting over open heart surgery and will be on very light activity for 12 weeks. I was fortunate to get into the hospital for the emergency bypass surgery as they no longer have any room in ICU or cardiac floors.

It’s really crazy out there and many of my medical colleagues are quitting because of the demanding hours and forced overtime. It is burning out so many medical professionals. The nurse to patient ratio is out the window as RN’s are taking on more and more patients. People can only take this kind of pressure for so long before they have their own medical, mental and emotional issues.

This whole COVID thing shows just how fragile and small our medical system is. There are times in many cities where people are calling 911 for an ambulance and they are told there aren’t any. Even with the people to staff the ambulances are available there just aren’t enough ambulances to meet the need.

Now there is a new COVID variant out of South Africa and it is very contagious and spreading fast and seems to be unaffected by any of the current vaccines.

Take care of yourself, your wife and family. We can just deal with Xtension issues until this COVID thing blows over, if it ever does.
