Question about strip lights and stuff

Dear Awesome Xtension people,

As we settle into our new home I am seeking lighting solutions for various applications.
One of my current areas of concern is lighting for my sewing space. I need very good lighting for sewing and the space delegated is a challenge in every respect.
The space is in the loft and the ceilings are natural pine paneling starting at about 4’ from the floor at maybe a 45 degree angle upward. 
So I am very limited for vertical wall space and oh, I only have maybe 4’ wide to work in. So the space is maybe 4’w x 16’l with the ceiling starting at about 4’ high.

My work surfaces will likely be along that wall. So I am wondering how effective are the LED light strips? I was thinking of running a light strip along the wall (16’ long) where the paneled ceiling meets the wall. 

If I go with light strips, which are the best bang for the buck? Are all light strips controllable?
