There hasn’t been a 10.5 version of XTension in a long time, but that most recent OS I can find that will run on that machine is 10.11 which will run almost everything in the current version of XTension. Some of the more complicated plugins might include libraries which wont run on it, but virtually everything else will. It won’t be too long before I will have to increase the system requirements to at least 10.12 as it is starting to get more and more complicated to produce versions that are compatible with everything in between but for the moment it should work if it has a reasonable amount of memory and has it’s OS updated to 10.11.
If it has the default 1 gig of ram then that will need to be updated before even the OS update will run I think. The Max that Apple says is supported is 4gig, but the Other World Computing at macsales and others can upgrade it to 6gig with 1 2 gig and 1 4 gig sim so that is what I would recommend. The memory for this is not going to be terribly expensive I don’t think. On the macsales site the 6gig upgrade is $78 bucks. And would be worth every penny!
After that I think it will be a quite capable XTension machine as long as you aren’t interested in integrating a whole lot of video feeds.
