Failing Interfaces at Launch #1

Hi James and George,

I think I’m that one other person using the ControlByWeb device(s). After James finished the plugin, there were some problems with one of my newer devices. James got things sorted out over a weekend and since there are no other issues. I would say it is time for the beta plugin to go to primetime. Everything works exactly as it should.

In fact, things are working so swimmingly I’m installing more ControlByWeb devices in more places in the very near future.

If anyone is needing a way to monitor or control something remotely (isn’t that all of us?), go check out:

Just go have a peek. It can’t hurt. It’s OK to update hardware and methods sometimes. The way I see things is serial/USB involves adaptors and interfaces which are left behind when there are updates to our computers and Operating Systems. Each time somebody updates there is a cascade of other updates needed to “keep up”. The quest for the latest plugin to keep the adaptor(s) running smoothly just goes on forever. Switching to IP control either via WiFi or Ethernet results in stuff just working despite the efforts of Apple and Keyspan to muck things up.

It’s not fully tested as I’m only aware of one other person than myself using it and the release version has problems with the newest devices but I’ve got that fixed internally and it will be in the next release which I can send you a link to a pre-build of if it turns out you need it before I get it released.
