Washing Machine on a X10 Appliance Module?

I would put in the X10 module. I have all kinds of stop gap measures like that. I run 1500 watt heaters on Z-wave modules all the time and the modules never get hot or give me any problems. The modules are rated for 15A which is 300 watts more than the heaters pull. In my shop I have a small water heater that is rated at 10A and is controlled by a Z-wave switch. It controls the heat in the guest loft and goes on and off all winter and has been doing this for 4 years.

I also have switches for my HA machine, modem, receiver, Apple TV, NVR for my security cameras and a few other electronic units so that I don’t have reset them manually and have two Z-wave controllers on a Z-wave switch so that if one fails I can use the other to reset the problem controller. This is what HA is all about. Allowing us to make life easier for us.

As for cooking your family my hope is that you have plenty of well placed smoke detectors with fresh batteries in them at all times. And have exits already planned out in case this ever happens. Life is a crap shoot anyhow and as long as you take reasonable precautions you should be safe.

On a side note I also have an error message once in a great while but the plug is right next to the washer and we can just reach over and unplug it so a module is not needed for us in this situation.

It’s a PITA to pull the unit out, unplug it and then move it back each time as our laundry room can have that “lived in look” most of the time. And since this happens once every couple of months, I was considering plugging the AC plug into an X-10 Appliance Module for ease of disconnection.
