Smart door locks

Henk,
I use the Kwikset locks for one really big reason. They can be re-keyed in about 1 minute if necessary. I have 6 locks on my main home and 8 locks on my vacation home/shop/pumphouse/guest house. And having all the same locks is nice in case the electronics fail, and electronics always fail.
The reason that I use the keypad lock is because it doesn’t require having a cell phone close to the lock. The locks that require having a cell phone to unlock them is just switching from a small cheap key to a very expensive big key. I can wander around my properties and unlock any door without a cell phone.
The reason that I like the physical punch code is that the will work even when the batteries are weak rather than using battery power to light up a display.
This is the lock that I have used and have used them for, just guessing, 10 years or so. I did upgrade to the Z-wave plus units over the last few years as they are more reliable because of better range which works better at my vacation home.
You can add up to 29 different codes. You can open remotely, You can set time limits on when the code is active, days of the week, hours of the day, or open days and hours and just have dates.
The older Kwiksets like this, the non Plus models had opted for speed over power which meant that the bolt moved faster but didn’t have power in case it didn’t match the strike plate perfectly. The newer Plus models have a slower bolt but more powerful so the gearing has changed and that is for the better.
