OT: VPN?

I have inbound VPN working. For now it's only the L2TP VPN that is built
into OS X Server hosted on my (other than Xtension) Mac Mini. Setting that
up is pretty much a no-brainer of filling in the options and opening up a
port on your router's firewall...BUT that VPMO DOES NOT WORK WITH ANDROID.
My research says that GOOGLE has a very old buggy implementation of the SHA
encryption that the Apple VPN server will not authenticate.
So....I'm going to add OpenVPN as soon as I get another round tuit to go
back to hacking. Doing it from source looks to be a challenge and even
the commercial versions wouldn't work for me so far.
The real challenge is that you can only test inbound access from the
outside Internet where my iPad(s) didn't have mobile data (they do now) and
so I only found out it worked when I was in public libraries.
Here's the tip of the year:
READY?
My ISP wanted $20 a month extra for a static IP address....
All of the well-known formerly free Dynamic DNS (DDNS) providers changed to
charge like $30 a year.....
except.....
you used to have look deep to find it and it took me over an hour.....
You can get FREE DDNS.....
from
<http://goog_1896416027>

http://changeip.com
You may still have to dig through the confusing options, but you "order"
DDNS using their domain name and it's charges you $0.
You still have to set up a script to check in with them at least once a
month but I was able to do that in my router running OpenWRT, and most will
work if you set up your user name and password.
You're welcome.
For OUTBOUND VPN I've used IPVanish
