moving from 854 to newest version

Did you move to a new machine or update the OS at the same time? The drivers for USB/Serial adaptors are fragile and may need to be re-installed. one problem with keyspans adaptor is that the name can change, they are not burned into them but they make them up from the path through the system so any change to a port  or hub can make their name change. 

Do you see the serial port in the popup? Do you get an error when enabling the interface or does it just not send any data? If there are any errors in the log please forward them to me off the list.
