[OT] question about remote access services

This thread has been going on long enough that I no longer recall why you can’t just use regular screen sharing built into the OS? It’s free, you have to create a free dyndns or no-ip account if you want to reach your system remotely and configure a passthrough of the port. But it’s free and works just fine. If you don’t have access to configure the passthrough then thats a problem. I think you can get around that if you have a remote machine you can create an SSH tunnel to, but I’m not sure they can work in both directions like that.
It is getting increasingly difficult to setup NAT passthroughs with the way that the internet providers are locking up control of their modems and routers. There may come a time when we do need an XTension passthrough service to connect your incoming connection with an outgoing one from XTension…
