z-wave replacement for 4-rocker in-wall switch

Hello Charles,
I see no delay between when I press a button on the VRCZ4 and the XTention log reports the arrival of a message from Vera for the associated Virtual Switch, and the subsequent change of state for that XT unit. It is instantaneous.
Further than that I cannot comment on your situation because I have no experience with Z-wave associations (yet). I rely on my XT scripts to synchronize events between individual devices. I can see the advantage of using associations (no XTension or other controller at your mother's home).
From the Z-wave definition of Associations: The association function “associates” two devices, enabling them to communicate directly without the need for a central controller. I have yet to do that, trusting in XTension (plus that gives me easier-to-change management of events), but I am intending to experiment with associations to try to understand how they may be useful to me, and what, if any, are the limitations. As mentioned in a previous post, I have a number of GE/JASCO switches in place, but I have read that these cannot be 'associated,' so I looking elsewhere to experiment. (Evolve)
Good luck, Brian
