The reason I’m suspicious of that is that it’s the default startup address range for the wiznet, but not likely to be anybodies real network. Because the netmask is 255.255.255.0 it will try to route any TCP packets that need to reach it out to the internet instead of to the device on the local network. The discovery and programming are done via a UDP broadcast which is always limited to the local subnet, so it can reach a card that is on a different subnet as far as the TCP configuration is concerned while the TCP connection for the actual data stream cannot.
Whats the network range of the devices on your network for real? I suspect it’s going to be 192.168.0.xxx which is the default for any shared network address?
