W800 Testing

Chuck and Michael,

Thanks a lot for your help. I can't find any way to get the W800
to receive anything and yet have no positive way to know that it
has failed. It's power supply output looks good on a VOM.

The rest of Xtension seems OK but I was experimenting with some
"Network" and "Sharing" settings on the machine around the time
that the wireless failed and I'm concerned that I might have
changed something affecting the W800 without realizing it.

I am using a legacy version of Xtension, V6.2 - build 793
because it is rock solid in unattended operation. The Mac-Mini
is a G4 running OSX 10.5.8 The W800 is the original style, no
longer available. I guess that means I have to buy a new one and
swap to find out if that's really it, (Unless you know of any
other tests I can do). I have one of Jeff Volpe's X10 signal
analyzers but can't think of any way in which to use it for this
problem. The Xtension log show no activity when I perform a
wireless transmission. Antenna and cable seem fine. No
difference when I disconnected them.

I'm wondering if I should go to the latest model of the old
style or if a USB version is better. Any thoughts?

Any added thoughts on verifying if my W800 is really dead?

Thanks again,

Jack
