Odd scripting problem: Conclusions at the end of a day...

RE: "I think we’re talking cross purposes.” and "You can control click or right click to bring that up.”

Yep, that what I was talking about, and I just didn’t try all the alternate keystrokes and modifier keys I should have.

Incidentally, I just tested the above, and it works fine. I had nothing to compare to since you moved it, and just thought it was called Handlers since it was in about the same general position at the top of a script window.

RE: "But that doesn’t really let you “quickly build new scripts” as you say below.”

Oh yeah… try writing a script with neither a button at the top, or knowing about the Control click when you have 200+ units! :-)

It also turns out the Get Davis Values script I opened above that I originally built, and David modified to work from a different Mini does have all sorts of handlers he added, so I was able to see the Handlers button work, and believe it or not, I do have 6 Handlers in that script.

Now then only thing you didn’t respond to is about the need for new XTension’s Doc that includes all the wonderful new features you’ve added, or the possible idea I think would really help the end user, is a help menu, and the idea of spreading the work out of doing this to the qualified members of the List to write a page with examples of each command. They are then sent to you for final editing. Since this is the 4th time I’ve brought it up, I gather it isn’t something you want to talk about, but believe me, it’s needed. Think about it. In the last 6 months alone you have released 40+ new versions of XTension, for which we are all most grateful!

George

If you have no handlers in the script then it will be greyed out. So unless your script has some on dosomething() bits there won’t be anything there.

I removed it from the toolbar because it was just duplicating functionality of the contextual menu and cluttering up the interface unnecessarily. That just has a list of all units and scripts in it for you to select from, basically the same thing as the auto-complete menu but without the attempt at seeing what you’ve been typing and bringing you to the approximately right spot in the list. You can control click or right click to bring that up.

It doesn’t enable for new scripts at all, though I could enable it once you’ve done a check syntax for a script and I’ll add that to my list. At the moment it should enable once a script has been saved and is opened for editing.”

In fact, your statement above blows me away when you say it is only ghosted for a new and unsaved script? That’s when I need it most, and there has to be something wrong with my install, as I just checked, and regardless of whether or not the script is saved, this button is ghosted on my system. How could that be, and how do I fix that?
