Programming the mySensors Arduino

Where did you order them from? I’ve seen some non-arduino knock offs with different usb/serial chips on them. The Nano is supposed to have an FTDI chip on it, so make sure you’ve got the most recent version of that driver installed. Which you probably do if you’re also using xBee interface boards. (I’ll email you in a bit about that problem you’re having, we’re just getting confused in the various firmware vs interface choices I think… but I’m not certain yet, have you sent me the screen shots of ALL the xBee configuration yet? I know you sent me first page or 2 but I need to see the rest of the config too)

Some of the knockoff ones may have a prolific adaptor chip on them, so try installing that driver too.

Then you can go into the system profiler without the device connected and open the USB info panel. Then connect the device and hit refresh. If a new device is listed, even if it’s not got driver support, then you know that it’s actually working and connected even if we can’t communicate to it yet. The name might give a clue what kind of chip is on it too. If nothing is shown here then it’s either the cabling or the device really is from a defective batch. Reply to the list with what is found and we can see what it’s got in there.

There seems to be a lot of complaining about the Nano’s out there, they seem very sensitive to cable length quality and so forth. Try short cables with good shielding and you might get it to work when it wouldn’t with a cable that would work on other things.
