If you have a spare USB/Serial adaptor then all you’d need would be one of these adaptors.

http://www.amazon.com/RS232-Communication-Converter-Adapter-Terminal/dp/B005FOOVLA/ref=sr_1_6?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1441381703&sr=8-6&keywords=rs485&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

or something similar. I use several of these with different thermostats and devices they work fine and if you’re willing to go for direct shipping from china and wait a month you can get them for $6 or $7 bucks, price goes up to $8 or $9 if you want it amazon prime ;)

They do make RS485 to serial adaptors with the FTDI chipset that would work too, but if this doesn’t work out then you’ve got a useless piece of gear more expensive than just the adaptor. Unless you need another USB/Serial adaptor anyway.

I have no idea if we can collect any data from it at all, but if it were me I would hook the thing up and just see.
