Hello Jeff,
Thanks for writing.
Having re-read your notes, I am wondering what it is that you believe will be different. Let us explore this.
I have installed and added the LTM-5, and it appears in XTension. All that I really wanted was an instant response to a change of state of the LTM-5, but Vera did not provide that. What Vera does is sends a standard status message after a routine polling. XTension seems to do nothing with this message. None of this included any Virtual devices.
I ventured to create a virtual device simply to see if I could deliver to XTension some immediate notice of the LTM-5's change of state, and to elicit some reaction within XTension. I succeeded in the former, but not in the latter.
I am not adverse to creating a virtual switch using your procedure, but I can not envision any improvement, unless you are suggesting that XTension will respond to messages from your virtual switch, where as it does not respond to messages from my current virtual switch. XTension is receiving the messages, as shown, but XTension does not currently interpret and act on those messages.
Please clarify what and why your virtual switch will do more than my virtual switch.
James, I hope that you will weigh in on this discussion.
Thanks,
Brian
