Moved to El Cap without major issues (Mac mini late 2009). Still using X2Web and had to revert back to the config file from before the OS upgrade. Fortunately the upgrade process saves the previous version. Not sure, but I think the "restart after power failure" preference was turned off. Best to recheck that setting. Having some issues with Time Machine - periodic saves are not happening. They are scheduled but fail silently. Also looks like Airport Utility can't correctly connect to router. Grabbed the prior version and that connects to the router and TC just fine. Once connected the backups run, Did reslect the TC disk in Time Machine and even though it says it will do an initial backup, once it runs the prior backups are all there and intact. Just won't keep backing up each hour. Next test is to mount the data and keep it available on the desktop and see if that enables the backups.
Some improvements seem to be there. Safari opens much quicker.
All things considered, this was much easier than the jump to Yosemite - although I did do that as a clean install.
Still current (but looking at a SE 30 sitting on the desk next to the XTension machine!)
