Dimming Question

I have often though that once an X10 dimmer is marked as “smart” we really shouldn’t send any dim/bri commands to it at all, but only the XPress command for level changes… Currently if you issue a regular dim/bri command it will use the old style dim/bright commands on the powerline. I’ve often considered an option, on by default, to send only xpress commands. But I’m not sure what that would do to every device out there which might remember it’s ON state but not respond to xpress commands?
At some point in the not too distant future the edit unit dialog is getting a refactoring to make it easier to add more info and some more unit by unit special controls, I’ll probably have more of a thought about that at that time.
