Hi Rich, Hendrick,

We still have three active Audreys.

Originally, I had web pages with frames to display various weather graphics
and some early x2web experiments; lack of maintenance eventually killed
them.

The long-standing and still-running purpose of the Audreys in our house has
been the display of Caller ID information.
[CallerID capable modem] > [CIDTracker] > [Audrey] > [ACID] (Audrey Caller
ID Display; a Qnix App) ...provides a nice large display of the incoming
call, visible from across the room. With fewer calls coming in on the
copper wires, and the lowering likelihood that we actually want to talk to
them, this last raison d'être for the Audrey may soon see its final days.

A quick word for Dean Davis' CIDTracker:
http://www.afterten.com/products/cidtracker/ and Prowl:
http://www.prowlapp.com/
[CallerID capable modem] > [CIDTracker] > [Growl] > [Prowl] ...is still
one of my favorite things. The whole system quickly notifies our iPhones
of incoming calls on the copper line to our house, often before their third
ring. CIDTracker even refers to my Mac/iCloud address book to accomplish
name substitution, so that otherwise generic phone numbers are displayed
(and announced by the Mac!) with known and understandable names; nice.

Best,
John

As a matter of fact, it's ALL rocket science.
