Skylink Door opener control?

I'm thinking of getting the Skylink door opener to put on an interior 
door that leads out to the sun room.

My doggie door is in the sun room.  I want to keep the sun room door 
closed to keep the wetaher out but allow the dogs to open it.

I figure I can put a wired floor mat on the floor or wall on each side 
and the dog will learn to hit with a nose, just like the doggie door.  
It says you can program the unit to stay open and close on its own after 
time interval.

I'd like to control and monitor it Xtension to status indicators and 
maybe control by time of day.

They have many alarm and interface options, but I don't see a clean way 
to connect dry contacts but I guess in worse case I can break open an 
extra wireless remote.

Anybody have any ideas for a good way to tie the Skylink Opener in?
