Weeder Technology Modules

XTension currently supports 3 models of the excellent modules from Weeder Technology The cards all connect via serial port so would require a USB/Serial adaptor and also require the weeder plugin from sentman.com Up to 6 weeder cards may be chained off a single USB/Serial adaptor and a single plugin license will connect to any number of cards. Additional cards may be added beyond the 6, but will require additional serial adaptors.

download XTension Beta build 805

7/13/10 build 805

	* adds support for the new weeder analog input card that replaces the old one. The WTAIN 4 input differential card is the new analog input card.
	* Fixes an issue that may have been the cause of the queue errors that people were seeing with multiple weeder cards on the same serial port and increased the polling speed and efficiency.

Video Pitcher is an IP Camera monitoring application with special features for easily connecting to XTension and providing the ability to record snippets of video in response to motion or other commands. It automatically creates video streams within XTension which can be used in views and also automatically appears on the list of available video streams to be viewed though the X2Web interface. The program is currently in public alpha testing.

It doesn't matter what the promotional materials for the devices you're buying say, you will someday encounter a problem. A list here of the things that we know cause X10 issues might help narrow things down. In most cases an inexpensive X10 filter on the offending device will solve the problem, but sometimes the problem is more insidious. It can be an interaction of 2 or more devices. It can be a device that maintains an internal battery and only eats X10…

	* Trane XV80 air handlers.
 * These really caused me pain at a previous house putting several volts of noise onto the powerline whenever the fan was running. The noise was such that it would interrupt X10 signals as you would expect, but it also would put many modules into a mode where they would just randomly turn on, or would turn on when the next signal was received regardless of the address of it. Several nights I had to jump out of bed and h…

'Smart' X10 and other X10 capable dimmers have the ability to remember the Preset value and will return to that when the next ON is received or the switch is turned on manually. This is a nice feature for setting the ON level at different times. For example you might change an overhead light level to a nightlight level after bedtime and return it to full on after breakfast time. Then a motion sensor controlling that light would not have to alter it's behavior at all, just …
